WINS Oxford: What’s Mine To Do?

As a professional woman working in sustainability, are you also an activist? or is that for others? How do you decide?

Climate Change action– it’s urgent

Climate Change action – it’s a marathon not a sprint.

As a professional woman working in sustainability, you are probably strongly committed to making a difference. You want to see urgent action on climate change. You want to give it your best.
But what is your best? Of all the things you could do, what do you decide to do and how do you decide?
Do you overstretch yourself? Or do you find it so difficult to decide that you find yourself feeling you’re not doing enough?

Everyone will make a different choice, whether that’s to;

  • work in sustainability all day and focus on relaxation, family and friends outside work,
  • work in an ‘ordinary job’ and change things from within
  • go flat out day and night with activism, working in sustainability, campaigning…
  • going part-time to work on climate change in the spare time

With COP26 behind us we’ll hear from a panel of women who are willing to share how they have chosen to divide up their time and energy and then you’ll have plenty of time to discuss with others what you have heard and how you might decide what for you is ‘mine to do’.

We’ll make sure this is a space everyone can speak openly and without judgement about how they feel, recognising that everyone is different.
We’ll consider some different approaches to deciding ‘what is mine to do?’

You’ll go away having reconnected with other women like you and have made some progress in deciding how you find your balance when it comes to having an impact in the area of climate action.

Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University have very kindly offered to host WINS Oxford Women in Sustainability on this occasion so do come and join us from 5.30pm for a cuppa and to catch up with people you may not have seen in a while.

If you’d prefer to join on zoom, you can also join from 5.30pm and there will be breakout rooms you can move between until the meeting starts at 6.00pm.
